Removals from Barcelona to the UK

UK to Spain removals, door to door

Barcelona is the shortest Spanish return run there is — the border is an hour north, and from there it’s motorway all the way to Calais. Dedicated vehicles often reach the UK in 2–3 days, which makes this the one route where paying for a fixed date doesn’t cost much more than waiting for a backload.

Where we collect

The city districts — Eixample, Gràcia, Sant Martí, Poblenou, Sants, Sarrià-Sant Gervasi, Ciutat Vella — plus the metropolitan area and the coast: Badalona, Hospitalet, Sant Cugat, Castelldefels, Sitges and up through the Maresme to Mataró.

Apartment access — the thing to sort first

Barcelona collections are almost all from flats in a nineteenth-century street plan, and the same three issues come up every time:

  • Ciutat Vella and Gràcia have streets no full-size lorry can enter. The load comes out via a smaller vehicle, sometimes with a hand carry to reach it.
  • Small lifts. Eixample buildings usually have a lift, frequently one that won’t take a sofa or a double mattress. Those come down the stairwell — or by external furniture lift, which needs booking and sometimes a street permit.
  • Time-restricted loading zones in the central districts, so collections are scheduled around them.

Tell us the district, the floor and whether the lift takes furniture. Those three answers drive the price here far more than the distance to the UK does.

Backloads and dedicated runs

Backload space comes up regularly, and flexible dates still save money. But because the driving leg is so short, a dedicated vehicle from Barcelona is better value than from anywhere else in Spain — if a fixed date matters to you, this is the route where it’s most affordable.

What it costs

Part loads from around £1,000 for 5m³, less on backload dates; a three-bed household £3,500–£6,500; dedicated vehicles £2,300–£3,300, and often at the lower end of that on this run. Full cost guide →

UK customs — ToR1

If you’re moving your home back to Britain, apply for HMRC’s Transfer of Residence relief before the goods travel and give the reference to your remover — it exempts your belongings from duty and VAT. Full ToR1 guide →

What people move back

Flat contents, overwhelmingly — this is a city people move to for work or study and leave the same way. Bikes, desks, books and kitchen equipment rather than three-piece suites. Loads are typically small, which suits both backloads and the short dedicated run.

Frequently asked questions

How much are removals from Barcelona to the UK? Part loads from around £1,000 for 5m³, less on flexible dates; a three-bed household £3,500–£6,500 (2026 guide prices).

How long does Barcelona to the UK take? Often 2–3 days on a dedicated vehicle — the fastest Spanish return route. Backloads follow the schedule and take a little longer.

My street is too narrow for a lorry — what happens? The load comes out via a smaller vehicle, which is normal in Ciutat Vella and Gràcia and priced at survey.

The lift won’t take my sofa. Now what? It comes down the stairwell, or by external furniture lift where the building and street allow. Flag it before the quote.

Is a dedicated van worth it from Barcelona? More than from anywhere else in Spain — the short driving leg keeps the price down, so a fixed date costs less here.

Do you collect from Sitges and the Maresme? Yes, and the whole metropolitan area.
